Born in Hull.
Birthplace of William Wilberforce (leader of movement to abolish slavery), John Venn (philosopher and inventor of the Venn diagram) and Mick Ronson (super cool guitarist and a Spider from Mars). Oh, and home of Philip Larkin (poet and writer) for over 30 years.

Six hours of studies a week (good grief) and lots of reading (allegedly).
First proper job – sub-editor at BBC.
Paid to write words. Who’d have thought it?
Senior copywriter at Macmillan Cancer Support.
Writing and doing some good. A bit of a dream job, really.
